Landon Bay Walking Trails

Index

Landon Bay offers the visitor a selection of trails with interesting environmental features:

Venture into our fields and forests to the osprey nest, beaver dam and pond alive with nature’s creatures. Signs and printed information guide you to the Lookout with its panoramic view of the 1000 Islands or through the mature forests and along the banks of Halstead Creek. Spend an hour or all day walking our trails.

Walking trail bridgeStroll the easy access Garden Trail through a section of forest and alongside Halstead Creek. Among the many gardens planted there by local groups and individuals are a fern glen, an over-wintering garden for birds, a butterfly garden, a heritage garden, an ice storm garden and perennial gardens.

The Look-out Trail for sure-footed walkers leads past a rare pitch pine tree and eventually to the Look-out with its panoramic view of the 1000 islands. This trail passes through a micro forest which has tree species from both northern and southern forests. Growing side by side are the southern shagbark hickory and the northern hemlock. There is an abundance of birds and wildflowers throughout the seasons. This Trail includes the Monitoring Station which collects data for the world-wide Smithsonian Institute forest monitoring program.

Follow the 5km Donevan Trail, our newest trail opened in recognition of Charlie and Kay Donevan's many contributions to the development of the property. Parts of this trail are of medium difficulty. You should have good footwear...not sandals.
